What better way to spend those long winter nights than learning to tie new fly patterns to use in the coming season. North Cove Outfitters offers a variety of fly tying classes through the winter and fly fishing schools in spring. All classes and schools are small, personal, in-depth and lots of fun! Tying classes are scheduled to begin in February. Fly Fishing school will start in the Spring.

Beginner Freshwater Fly Tying

Beginner Saltwater Fly Tying
What you will learn:
• Introductory tying principles
• Natural & Synthetic materials
• Understanding fly recipes
• Principles of proportion
• Basic sinking patterns
• Basic midwater patterns
• Basic topwater patterns

FREE! Fly Tying Clinics
We are proud to offer a series of four FREE fly tying clinics each Saturday in February, from 10:00AM-1:00PM.
One of our Fly Fishing staff will review tying techniques and some of our favorite patterns. These are patterns that our fishing staff loves to tie and have proven effective in CT waters and beyond. Bring your own vise and tying tools and we'll provide the materials! Please call the fishing department to reserve a seat. The clinic will be limited to 6 tyers at a time.

Flies with Spun Heads
Fish LOVE flies that "push" water. We will show you tips and tricks for tying flies with deer hair heads like Muddler Minnows, Snake Flies, or Dalburg Divers. Big Flies catch Big Fish! This clinic will have some patterns & techniques for tying castable big flies that catch fish!

Epoxy
Every fly tyer has a love-hate relationship with Epoxy and beginners get overwhelmed. 1 minute, 5-minute, 30-minute and rod builders epoxy all have their place in fly tying. We'll go over some of the favorite Epoxy Flies and share some tips about handling this wonderful adhesive.
